One of the joys of living aboard a movable home, is the people you meet along the way. One of our favorite sailing couples are the owner/operators of the 50-foot Morgan sloop, PHAEDRUS.

Captain Charles and Leslie have been dear friends for 15 years and we were so lucky to meet up with them in North Sound, Virgin Gorda. Charles and Leslie guided us to a snorkeling spot on Eustatia Reef that we had never experienced. Easily, it was the best we enjoyed during our recent travels in the BVI. Leslie is a wealth of information and easily identifies every fish on the reef. Charles is still an amazing Chef, with a wicked sense of humor. A spotted Eagle Ray captivated us for the first half of our snorkel. Afterward, we enjoyed a beautiful sunset at Saba Rock. A couple of painkillers didn’t hurt either!

Sailing in the BVI

We just returned from 10 glorious days, sailing in paradise! Our first of many turtle encounters was here, at The Indians one of our favorite snorkeling sites.

After a beautiful sail up the Narrows, tacking through the imaginary water border between the U.S. Virgins and the British Virgin Islands, we enjoyed a fabulous lunch with dear friends at the renovated Cooper Island Beach Club.

Our 42-foot Jeanneau, SEA DANCER, served us well.

Another of our many highlights was anchoring off Saba Rock in North Sound with nothing between us and Africa except stunning Eustatia Reef. Meeting up with Captain Colin and Penny, crew of the crewed yacht SABORE was great fun, and the yacht looked beautiful in the light of the setting sun.

Food, Glorious Food!

Whether you enjoy gourmet cuisine or simpler fare, you will be amazed at the delicious meals created in your yacht’s galley.

“The food was probably the biggest surprise, aside from the beauty of the landscape and water.  I had no idea that gourmet, topnotch eating was part of this deal.  Stephanie is an outstanding cook and she presents not only creative and artistic meals, but delicious and varied menus as well.  She’s awesome!”

The food was amazing. It was like being in a top restaurant right here in Atlanta. We were continually amazed [at the] inventive meals prepared in that little galley. Alison and Hugh not only read our preference sheets, but really paid attention to them! Everything we requested was taken to heart. The attention to detail was also great.  If we were onshore and mentioned something like, “Oh, I like sweet potatoes.” We’d have them at dinner that night. They paid attention to everything about us.”

“My husband David is a great cook and super fussy, always ready to critique a meal.  He had not one improvement for Shelly.  She is a fabulous cook (chef). Our menu was varied and interesting, seasoned and presented beautifully (different table settings each night). Capt. Randy gave us menu descriptions as he served us each night.  He chose perfect wines for our entrees.  I wish I could pick a favorite meal but they were all wonderful.  The desserts and snacks were delicious, the cookies the magic bars the pecan pie…heaven!!  Randy made great cocktails.  He makes the best painkillers and rum punches.”

“Breakfast included fresh hot biscuits, eggs and sausage, and espresso coffee that Captain Flavio would grind fresh every morning.    It was very apparent that Flavio had paid close attention to our Preference Sheets.  We all love, and stated a preference for, seafood — we had shrimp, mussels, salmon, tuna, even paella – all wonderful.  One night we had pork in a gorgonzola sauce that was simply amazing.”
